On behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development is currently conducting field inspections of domestic enterprises for compliance with agreements on the localization of production of cars and agricultural machinery. Experts have already visited 3 factories in Almaty, Kostanay and Uralsk. This was announced at a government meeting by the head of the MIIR Kairbek Uskenbaev.

“For the qualitative execution of the instructions of the head of state, we have created a working commission, which included representatives of government agencies, parliament, public associations, the media and bloggers. Field inspections will be completed by the end of this month. In addition, we plan to hold open days at the sites of automakers. The initiative was supported in Kostanay and Almaty,” the minister said.

This measure will allow the public to see the real state of affairs in assembly plants in terms of the implementation of agreements on the localization of production.

Uskenbaev said that the ministry is also reviewing all agreements on industrial assembly (entitles tax rebates and refunds of salvage fees) in order to shift the focus to obligations for small-scale assembly and the production of components (rear-view mirror housings, bumpers, rims, tires, etc.). In other words, the factories that receive preferences will be obliged to complete the assembled equipment with parts manufactured in Kazakhstan. To do this, it will be necessary to work out the creation of new industries, perhaps with the participation of experienced foreign companies.

“In order to increase localization, MIIR has formed a step-by-step action plan for the production of auto components. We are also working on the issue of attracting certified suppliers to create joint production and attract investment. Information on the results of the work carried out will be submitted to the government by May this year,” the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development said.

As the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serikkali Brekeshev informed during the government meeting, meetings of the working group with the participation of the public, business and interested government agencies on the issue of revising the rates of salvage collection were held in a daily format at the site of NCE Atameken.

“We will complete the work on revising rates together with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development by the end of this month,” he said.
