Kazakhstan exported 7 million 90 thousand tons of grain in 2021. This is 184 thousand tons more than in 2020 (6 million 825 thousand tons). Although, most likely, the increase occurred due to the re-export of Russian wheat, because the import of imported grain to Kazakhstan almost doubled over the year - 961 thousand tons in 2021 against 544 thousand tons in 2020.

The top three in terms of purchases of Kazakh wheat since 2020 have not changed.

Uzbekistan is in the first position with 2 million 969 thousand tons. This is 214 thousand tons less than in 2020.

Also, Tajikistan, which is located on the second line, slightly reduced the volume of purchases and bought 1 million 5 thousand tons of grain, against 1 million 15 thousand tons in 2020.

However, this shortfall was more than compensated by the third leader, Iran, which bought 867 thousand tons of grain in Kazakhstan in 2021, which is 348 thousand tons more than in 2020.

But China has sharply reduced the volume of purchases in 2021 due to quarantine restrictions imposed at the border in the summer, buying only 444 thousand tons (against 758 thousand tons in 2020).

Other changes include a strong increase in exports to Turkmenistan, the volume of which amounted to 277 thousand tons, which is 169 thousand tons more than in 2020.

Azerbaijan increased purchases by 3.5 times, from 25,000 tons in 2020 to 89,000 tons in 2021.

It should be noted that for the first time the UK appeared in the list of importers, which bought 24 thousand tons of Kazakh grain in 2021.

As a result, the Celestial Empire dropped from the fourth position in the ranking to the fifth, giving way to a stable partner, Afghanistan, which purchased 583,000 tons of grain in 2021 (1,000 tons more than in 2020).
