The Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition, based on a complaint from agricultural producers and the akimat of Zhambyl region on the increase in prices for ammophos, launched an antimonopoly investigation against Kazphosphate LLP. It was found that the price of the fertilizer was unreasonably high. This was reported in the press service of the AZRK.
“In November 2021, the price of ammophos increased from 125,000 tenge to 168,750 tenge. Compared to the beginning of the year, the growth was 35%. At the same time, in January 2022, the price was 185,625 tenge. In relation to January 2021, the price increase was 48.5%.
At the same time, the change in the costs necessary for the production and sale of goods is disproportionate to the change in the sale price of the goods,” the AZRK established.
At the same time, it is important to note that the Kazphosphate company occupies a dominant position in the market.
As part of the investigation, it was established that Kazphosphate, abusing its dominant position, sold ammophos at a monopoly high price. This, in turn, affects the price of the final agricultural product and the purchasing power in general.
Currently, on the basis of Article 224 of the Entrepreneurial Code, a draft conclusion based on the results of the investigation has been sent to Kazphosphate LLP. Information on legal liability in AZRK will be announced after summing up the results of the investigation.
