Omsk. May 25th. INTERFAX-SIBERIA - Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Burkov proposed to revise the tariffs for transit transportation of agricultural products to develop trade relations between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the press service of the regional government reports.
"The head of the region discussed the issue of tariffs at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk. We are talking about increasing the efficiency of transit transportation of agro-industrial products through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the report says.
According to Burkov, in the conditions of the new economic reality, the priority task for the regions of Russia is to build new supply chains with friendly states.
"For the Omsk region, as a border geostrategic territory, an optimal tariff policy is important. In this sense, our proposal is designed to reduce the financial burden on Russian agricultural producers and cargo carriers," the governor's press service quotes.
He noted that the initiative was supported by the federal Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture, and now the issue needs to be worked out at the interstate level.
According to Burkov, the proposed measure will promote the development of trade between the member states of the EAEU.
