A high grain harvest of 17.7 million tons is expected this year. To ensure the high-quality transportation of the new crop, a special headquarters has been created at the National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC. Round-the-clock work of operational grain groups is organized in the road departments. This was reported by ElDala.kz with reference to the press service of the national company.
During the meeting on the issues of grain transportation, shippers voiced their proposals and questions on the organization of transportation. It was noted that there is a risk of a shortage of rolling stock for the transportation of grain. It is connected with the fact that Kazakh private owners of wagons redirect the rolling stock to other railway administrations, where it is more profitable to lease it due to the exchange rate difference.
It is noted that in the seven months of 2022, 5.1 million tons of grain were loaded, of which 4 million tons were exported. Flour loading increased by 21% to 1.6 million tons by 2021. Exports increased by 38%. All directions are open for the export of Kazakh grain by rail.
To optimize the transportation process, it is recommended to send grain and grinding products by block trains. This allows to reduce the delivery time of the cargo and speed up the turnover of wagons.
