At this time, the Food Corporation has 1 million tons of grain in its resources. Of this volume, 500 thousand tons are reserve stocks, 200 thousand tons are fodder stock. As the company stated, due to these volumes, PKK will stabilize the market.
As the head of the corporation noted, this season the total amount of support to farmers will be more than 1.2 million tons of grain. This volume takes into account all government support instruments: forward purchase, trade credit, direct purchase. As for non-grade wheat, it is noted that the Food Corporation will help farmers sell these products. Today, the company is actively searching for buyers, both in Kazakhstan and other countries.
As the head of the corporation, Asylkhan Dzhuvashev, said, the company is carrying out commodity interventions. For example, over 70 thousand tons of grain were sold to flour millers to stabilize prices for first-grade flour. The corporation also has rice, buckwheat, and sunflower in storage. The PKK intends to introduce trilateral forward purchasing; this is being done in order to avoid price increases for these products.
Let us remind you that the ex-head of a large agricultural holding, deputy Aidarbek Khojanazarov, recently put forward a proposal to give the corporation a loan from the state budget in order to obtain a loan extension for farmers who suffered from the summer drought and autumn rains. He also noted that it is necessary to increase the amount of funding for the 2024 sowing campaign, since farmers have a lack of funds for sowing work.
