The government, in response to persistent requests from agribusiness, specialized associations and members of Parliament, finally agreed to consider the possibility of creating a specialized Agrarian Bank in Kazakhstan. Such requests have been made for many years, but the leadership of the government and the National Bank previously stated that this proposal was inappropriate. Now, authorized government agencies have changed their position on this issue. This was reported by Mazhilis deputy, chairman of the Auyl party Serik Egizbaev.
According to him, the other day deputies received a response to another request regarding the creation of AgroBank. “...Taking into account the importance of expanding agricultural financing in terms of bank lending to ensure the country’s food security, the Ministry is exploring the issue of creating an Agrobank with interested government bodies,” Serik Egizbaev quoted from this answer, which was provided to deputies by the Minister of Agriculture.
According to the document, the National Bank and the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market also stated that they do not object to the creation of AgroBank as a national development institution.
Serik Egizbaev recalled that agricultural banks are successfully working to ensure food security in our closest neighbors - in Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, as well as in the countries of the European Union.
“We see the result of such state policy every day on the shelves of our stores, where agricultural products from these countries often displace our domestic products,” the Majilisman emphasized.
He thanked his colleagues from all six parliamentary factions, as well as the Senate deputies, for their unanimous position on the fundamental issue of supporting the villagers.
