Sowing season is just around the corner. Farmers are still worried about the situation with the availability of wheat seeds in the country. As stated in the Chamber of Entrepreneurs, it is necessary to create an information base in the country on the availability of seeds by region. Meanwhile, statistics announced the volume of grain and legume crops, including seeds, which are available on farms and in warehouses. It is reported that by January 1, 2024, 11.6 million tons of wheat were concentrated in the country. Of these, almost 8.5 million tons of food, 2.2 million tons of feed. Wheat as seeds – about 1 million tons, reports the APK News agency.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics, the presence of grains and legumes (including rice) in Kazakhstan is 14.5 million tons, of this volume food – 9.8 million tons, seeds – 1.2 million tons, fodder – 3.4 million tons .
The volume of wheat at the beginning of 2024 is 11.6 million tons, of which food wheat is about 8.5 million tons, seed wheat is 938 thousand tons, feed wheat is 2.2 million tons.
The bulk of wheat is concentrated in legal entities growing grain - 3.9 million tons. 2 million tons of grain are stored by peasants and farmers. Representatives of flour milling industries have 1 million tons of wheat grain. There are 3.4 million tons of grain at the elevators of legal entities.
It is worth noting that the volume of wheat availability in Kazakhstan for the period of December 1, 2023 was 12.2 million tons. Of these, food was 9 million tons, seed - 807 thousand tons, fodder - 2 million tons.
As for other crops, the volume of barley in the country is 1.8 million tons, food barley - 713 thousand tons. There are 24 thousand tons of rye in stock, of which the main share is food grade – 18 thousand tons. Oats - 144 thousand tons, the main part of it is fodder - 77 thousand tons, food - 52 thousand tons. Millet and buckwheat – 23 and 24 thousand tons, respectively. Rice - 274 thousand tons. Corn - 203 thousand tons.
As representatives of the agricultural business stated last week, the situation with the volume of seeds is still not clear to them. The country does not have a database of domestic producers and distributors of seeds with information about their availability.
