The food corporation sells grain for seeds at 135-150 thousand tenge/ton 01.02.2024 в 14:52 223 просмотра

As the ElDala.kz portal previously reported, the Food Corporation began selling commercial wheat from its own reserves for seeds. A total of 400 thousand tons are expected to be used for these purposes. Applications are accepted from farmers who can document the availability of acreage. The seeding rate is 130 kg per 1 ha of arable land.

Farmers are prohibited from reselling grain received from the Food Corporation on the domestic market or exporting it. Wheat will be supplied on the basis of full prepayment.

As ElDala.kz was informed by the Food Corporation, the cost of wheat sold for seeds is 135-150 thousand tenge/ton, depending on the quality. So far, no applications have been received, although there is interest from farmers.

Let us note that currently commercial wheat in Kazakhstan costs from 110 thousand tenge/ton for ordinary grade 3 grain to 135 thousand tenge for hi-pro.

The need to sell grain to the Food Corporation arose due to a shortage of seeds among the country's farmers after unfavorable harvesting conditions in 2023. After the harvest, experts estimated the seed shortage at 50%, that is, 1 million tons of seeds were harvested against a requirement of 2 million tons.
