In 2023, the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China increased by 22% and reached a record level of over 28 million tons. This year, the countries agreed to maintain transportation volumes, while Kazakhstan is agreeing to increase the acceptance of agricultural cargo. A meeting of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and China was held in Urumqi. It was noted that in 2023, the export of grain cargo from the Republic of Kazakhstan doubled, to 2.2 million tons, flour and milling products - three times, to 600 thousand tons, vegetable oil - by 56%, to 180 thousand. tons
As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to synchronize work on infrastructure development at the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing. Taking into account the upcoming work for 2024, an agreement was reached to maintain the volume of cargo transportation at last year’s level.
The Kazakh delegation also got acquainted with the work of the new terminal in the bonded zone of the Alashankou station for unloading grain crops and vegetable oils. During the meeting, the parties agreed on transportation technology and increasing the acceptance of Kazakh agricultural products.
In addition, negotiations were held in the city of Tacheng with the leadership of the State Railway Administration of the Ministry of Transport of the PRC and the Tarbagatai District of the XUAR. The Kazakh side informed about the work on the construction of the Ayagoz-Bakhty railway line and the third border railway crossing. Chinese colleagues spoke about the construction of the Tacheng - State Border with Kazakhstan railway line. In the Tacheng County Development Pilot Zone, construction of a transport and logistics center and an urban industrial zone are currently underway.
