Kazakhstan plans to lower the maximum cost of diesel fuel. The draft order of the Minister of Energy, which is posted on the Open Legal Regulations portal, states the intention to set maximum prices for retail sales of diesel fuel in the amount of 295 tenge per liter, APK News agency reports.
Let us remind you that from 2022 in Kazakhstan the cost of summer and off-season diesel fuel was set at 450 tenge/liter. At the same time, with a daily limit of 100 liters and 300 liters (for trucks), Kazakhstanis could buy diesel fuel at a maximum price of 295 tenge. If the volume limit was exceeded, then the payment was already 450 tenge per liter. Foreign citizens bought (and are still buying) diesel fuel in Kazakhstan for 450 tenge, regardless of the volume.
Now the Ministry of Energy plans to lower the cost limit for summer and off-season diesel fuel for everyone from 450 to 295 tenge/liter.
It turned out that there was no longer any threat of a shortage of diesel fuel; on the contrary, there was an overstocking of diesel fuel at factories and oil depots throughout the country. According to the project, there are no plans to lower the price limits for gasoline.
Diesel fuel restrictions were introduced to prevent the outflow of diesel fuel from the country. At least that's what it sounded like officially. However, residents of a number of regions noted that diesel fuel began to “leak” not abroad, but to resellers.
