Drought is predicted in May in three regions of Kazakhstan

In its updated forecast, Kazhydromet increased the area of territories at risk of drought in May. When drawing up the new forecast, forecasters took into account the precipitation that fell in April and the predicted weather conditions.
According to Kazhydromet, drought is expected in May:
- in Karmakshinsky and Shiilisky districts of the Kyzylorda region;
- in the Amangeldinsky district of the Kostanay region;
- in the Shetsky district of the Karaganda region.
On May 3, Kazhydromet issued a storm warning about the onset of drought in the Karmakshinsky and Shiilisky districts of the Kyzylorda region in the next 10 days.
Additionally, moderately wet conditions are forecast:
- in Karasu district in Kostanay region;
- in Akkol, Atbasar and Sandyktau districts of Akmola region;
- in Aktogay, Uspensky Pavlodar region and in the vicinity of Pavlodar;
- in Burlinsky, Chingirlausky, Syrymsky and Karatyubinsky districts of the West Kazakhstan region;
- in the Kobdinsky district in the Aktobe region.
In the rest of Kazakhstan, humidity in May is expected to be close to long-term values.
