A new sunflower hybrid was created in Kazakhstan 31.05.2024 в 14:36 109 просмотров

A new breeding achievement was presented by breeders from the Experimental Oilseed Crops Farm. The new product will be patented in 2024, reports the APK News agency.

“The sunflower hybrid “Baikonur 21” belongs to the mid-season group and is resistant to herbicides of the imidazoline group. Over the years of competitive variety testing in 2019-2021, the average yield was 39.9 c/ha, which exceeded the control by 4.5 c/ha!” - breeders shared information.

The weight of 1000 seeds is 66 g, the oil content of the achenes is 50.4%.

The hybrid is resistant to downy mildew, rust, broomrape, and verticillium wilt. It does not lie down and does not crumble, it has a basket of the fifth type of inclination, which greatly facilitates mechanized harvesting and reduces crop loss.

“The hybrid can be cultivated in any region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, giving high yields and increasing the profitability of the enterprise,” the breeders noted.
