In Kazakhstan, 18.9 million hectares are sown, or 90% of the planned area. The work continues, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported.
According to the department, grains are sown on an area of 14.5 million hectares, oilseeds - 2.7 million hectares, fodder - 970 thousand hectares. Also, 158.8 thousand hectares are allocated for potatoes and 131.6 thousand hectares for vegetables.
The country has generated the required volume of seeds in the amount of 2.4 million tons. In particular, the Food Corporation issued 45 thousand tons of wheat for seeds in the form of a trade loan for a total amount of 6.4 billion tenge.
The Ministry of Agriculture also noted that this year farmers have increased the volume of mineral fertilizers applied by 2.1 times: over 820 thousand tons have already been applied. In total, contracts for the supply of 946 thousand tons were concluded.
The volume of preferential financing for sowing in 2024 will be 580 billion tenge, of which 400 billion is additional lending at a “net” 5% with a term of up to 12 months.
To complete sowing, another 10-12 clear days without precipitation are needed. That is, the sowing season may drag on until the end of the second ten days of June.
The optimal time for sowing wheat in the country's grain belt is considered to be the period from May 15 to May 31.
