During exchange trading on the Eurasian Commodity System (ETS) commodity exchange platform from June 7 to June 13, 21.2 thousand tons of grain were sold. The main trading volume fell on class 5 wheat - 19,599 tons, the ETS press service reported.
“The average price per ton of wheat of this class was 84 thousand tenge. Class 5 wheat is widely used for feed needs and in the production of various industrial products. Deals for class 5 wheat were concluded on EXW (ex-elevator) terms of delivery in Akmola, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions,” the exchange reported.
Also, 1,539 tons of soft wheat of class 3 with a gluten content of 23% were sold. The average price reached 136 thousand tenge per ton. This wheat is used primarily in the baking and flour milling industries due to its high quality and good baking properties. Exchange transactions were also carried out on the basis of 100% advance payment.
The smallest trading volume was for soft wheat of class 3 with a gluten content of 27%. In this category, 125 tons were sold at an average price of 141 thousand tenge per ton. Wheat with such a high gluten content is in demand in the production of high-quality flour and specialized baked goods, providing excellent baking qualities.
The ETS noted that the high interest in wheat with a high gluten content indicates the need for high-quality grain for the food industry. At the same time, the selling prices for closing transactions at the auction turned out to be higher than market prices on the domestic market, which indicates high demand and stable market positions of agricultural products on the exchange.
