Farmers in Kazakhstan are expecting a high grain harvest this year. Before the start of the mass harvest, farmers are interested in the grain prices that the Food Corporation is to announce as part of the forward purchase. Producers addressed this issue to Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin during his visit to the Akmola region. In response, Zhumangarin instructed the head of the Food Corporation Asylkhan Dzhuvashev to promptly resolve this issue, the government press service reported.
This year, 4.7 million hectares have been sown with grain in the Akmola region. As the head of the Rodina agrofirm Ivan Sauer reported, "the quality of the grain is expected to be good this year, the prices are good, now it is important that the weather is favorable for harvesting."
Farmers also asked about the possibility of obtaining loans for the construction and repair of grain hangars, which are necessary for short-term storage of the harvest. Such lending mechanisms exist, and financial institutions can provide assistance.
In addition, the meeting discussed the development of new directions for grain exports, the alignment of wheat prices between Kazakh and Russian wheat to reduce the cost of producing social bread, and the regulation of railway grain deliveries during the harvesting campaign.
During his trip to the region, Serik Zhumangarin also visited the A. Barayev Scientific and Production Center for Grain Farming. One of the recent achievements of the center was a new variety of soft spring wheat "Taimas", which has already received high praise from farmers. This variety surpasses domestic and foreign analogues in resistance to drought, heat and diseases. Last year, "Taimas" allowed farmers in the Karaganda region to achieve a yield of 30 c/ha, which is a significant success.
The high scientific potential of the Scientific and Production Center for Grain Farming is also recognized in the international arena: in 2027, the 10th World Congress on Conservation Agriculture will be held here, which will be the first event of this scale.
