In Kazakhstan, a high harvest is expected this season, and therefore farmers do not rule out possible problems with a shortage of grain storage facilities. In this regard, the Association of Agricultural Producers of the Kostanay Region has proposed leaving part of the grain sold to the Food Corporation in farmers' warehouses until the elevators begin to be freed up.
"This year, there are good prospects for the harvest, so farmers, due to the workload of elevators and elevator tanks, propose amending the law "On Grain" that would make it possible to store the Food Corporation's grain in their warehouses for some time, subject to compliance with all requirements by the company. It is also important to consider the legitimacy of warehouse receipts in the future," the Association said, commenting on the President's Address to the People of Kazakhstan.
Farmers paid special attention to the thesis of the head of state about the need to move from direct subsidies to affordable lending. In this regard, the Association noted that the competitiveness and further development of the industry depend on the timeliness of the implementation of all state support programs for the agro-industrial complex.
“For example, farmers have been paying the full interest rate of 22% for a year now, which affects the current activities of agricultural enterprises. There are several other important areas that require the attention of both state bodies and the government. For example, the Association raised the issue of banning the import of all types of wheat and its processed products,” the Association emphasized.
In general, it is noted that it is important to approach the development of the agro-industrial complex in a comprehensive manner. This will not only achieve the intended goal, but also increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstani agricultural producers in the domestic and foreign markets.
