Farmers in Kazakhstan are waiting for prices for grain crops from the Food Corporation as part of the forward purchase. Industry associations sent their proposals to the corporation on the optimal price level. In particular, the Association of Farmers of Kazakhstan believes that the cost of class 3 wheat as part of the purchase should be from 120 to 140 thousand tenge / ton.
In its letter to the head of the Food Corporation, the Association of Farmers of Kazakhstan proposed setting the following prices per ton of products:
soft wheat class 3:
- with gluten 23-24% - 120 thousand tenge
- with gluten 25-27% - 130 thousand tenge
- with gluten 28% and higher - 140 thousand tenge;
- soft wheat class 4 - 110 thousand tenge;
- soft wheat class 5 - 95 thousand tenge;
- hard wheat of class 3 - 150 thousand tenge;
This year, farmers in Kazakhstan expect an above-average harvest. However, prices for agricultural products are now lower than they were last season.
The Association of Agricultural Producers of the Kostanay Region also previously made a proposal to the Food Corporation regarding prices, where they asked to purchase class 3 wheat at 110 - 125 thousand tenge / ton, depending on the quality. The Association also recalled that last year farmers lost part of the harvest due to rains that did not stop throughout the harvesting period. As a result, the safety margin of many farms has noticeably decreased.
