A rapid increase in the volume of grain and milled products exports occurred in Kazakhstan. According to the National Carrier KTZ, 70% more flour was transported to China in the past months of 2024 than a year earlier, the APK News agency reports.
According to the results of 8 months of 2024, Kazakhstan exported 4 million tons of grain, domestic transportation amounted to 1 million 200 thousand tons, which is 4% more than a year ago.
If we talk about rail transportation of milled products, KTZ notes a significant increase in deliveries, both domestically and in the export direction. Thus, in 8 months, 2 million 300 thousand tons were transported by rail in the country, which is 17% more than a year ago. 1 million 800 thousand tons of flour were exported to other countries, which is 20% more than a year earlier. At the same time, supplies of milled products to China increased by a significant 70% - up to 500 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, according to millers, there is no rush to ship food flour to China; the growth in supplies is due to feed flour or granules.
As for grain exports, most of it went to Central Asian countries, 2 million 500 thousand tons were shipped there. 1 million 200 thousand tons went to China.
As reported by the Atameken Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Kazakhstan risks drowning in its own grain this year due to the large volume of the new harvest and problems with its shipment. According to the press service of the NCE, entrepreneurs constantly talk about the inconsistency of plans for loading in full, and say that only about 30% of the required grain is exported.
Where to put the rich 2024 harvest?
As noted by KTZ, the company is ready to accept it. Special grain groups are already working in the main grain-growing regions. During the period of mass export of the new harvest, the speed of movement of wagons with grain will be increased, and grain and flour shuttles will travel to the countries of Central Asia. As noted by the company, these are special high-speed route trains that will increase the turnover of wagons and reduce the delivery time of goods.
