A new grain terminal with a capacity of 1 million tons per year has been commissioned in the Kuryk port of the Mangistau region. The grain terminal of the private company Kaspi Grain Way is ready to receive grain crops from all over Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Within the framework of the project, 18 silos were built, in which up to 28 thousand tons of grain crops can be stored at a time. The conveyor capacity is 300 tons/hour. The terminal will ensure the predicted increase in the volume of grain exports in the direction of Kazakhstan - Iran/countries of the Caucasus region and further,” the department reported.
It is noted that today about 14 thousand tons of barley are stored in the grain terminal.
On November 9, 2024, the first cargo batch of grain was shipped from this terminal from berth No. 4 of the Kuryk port. The total volume of the first batch was 3,500 tons of barley. The SILVER STAR vessel entered the waters of the Kuryk port to receive the first batch of grain.
"The dispatch of the first batch of grain crops of Kaspi Grain Way from the berths of the Kuryk port marked an important step in strengthening Kazakhstan's position in the international agricultural markets and opens up new prospects for the development of new transportation routes and diversification of the cargo base in the ports of our country," the port noted.
According to the Ministry of Transport, this project was implemented as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Marine Infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2028.
