Kazakhstan has restricted the re-export of Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov. The measure is in effect within the framework of the ban on the import of wheat from the EAEU countries, introduced until the end of 2024, the APK News agency reports.
This information was published in the response of the head of the Government of Kazakhstan to a request from deputies who asked to take measures after the introduction of restrictions by Russia. In his information, O. Bektenov said that at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, cases of unjustified unilateral returns to Kazakh agricultural products were discussed by Rosselkhoznadzor, as a result of consultations, the commission gave recommendations to authorized bodies to lift the restrictions as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister also noted that earlier, in order to protect the domestic market, Kazakhstan imposed a ban on the import of wheat from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union until the end of 2024. The ban limited the re-export of Russian grain to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China.
The head of the Government also informed the deputies that Kazakhstan has increased the level of unified tariffs for transit cargo transportation through its territory for the EAEU countries this year. For example, the tariff for the transportation of grain from Russia to Kyrgyzstan through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan has doubled.
