Kazakhstan and China Reach Historical Maximum in Freight Transportation 17.01.2025 в 16:31 28 просмотров

Over 32 million tons of cargo were transported by rail between Kazakhstan and China in 2024. This volume became the maximum in the history of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China, the APK News agency reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

The press release of the department notes that over the past year, cargo exports from Kazakhstan increased by 7%, reaching 13.7 million tons. Grain cargoes are among the top leaders in shipments.

Cargo imports to Kazakhstan increased by 5%.

The volume of transit traffic increased by 19% and exceeded 15 million tons. In particular, container transportation through the territory of Kazakhstan to the EU countries increased by more than 40%.

Rapid growth was noted in the volume of transit through the port of Aktau and the Kazakh terminal in the port of Xi'an, which was commissioned in 2024. Last year, over 300 containers passed along these routes, which is 30 times more than the year before.

Recall that the growth in cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China was also recorded in June 2024. That export figure - 12.6 million tons - was also called a record. It was noted that this volume is 35% higher than for the same period in 2022. At a meeting of Kazakh and Chinese businesses in June, it was reported that Kazakhstan managed to significantly increase exports to China after the pandemic. In 2023, grain shipments increased threefold. Wheat and barley became some of the main agricultural crops supplied.
