To date, Iran, Uzbekistan, Russia and China are the main export destinations for supplies of Kazakh barley, reported the General Director at VKZ-Agro LLP, Alexander Malov, during his report within frames of the international conference "KazakhGrainExport 2019" in Istanbul, on September 19.
At the same time, China is the most prospective market for increasing the grain export volumes in 2019. According to VKZ-Agro estimations, to date Kazakhstan can supply nearly 50-100 thsd tonnes of barley on the market. But in three years, the exports can reach 0.5-1 mln tonnes, the expert said.
He noted that Kazakh farmers continued increasing the production of barley, which harvest volumes in the current year are expected to reach 3.6 mln tonnes (3.4 mln tonnes in 2018, 2.8 mln tonnes in 2017). Also, for 4 recent seasons Kazakhstan increased the foreign shipments of the grain from the country. At the same time, Iran purchases nearly 80% of the grain supplies. In turn, the share of Kazakh barley in the Iranian imports totals nearly 40%.
